Strength and Conditioning Concentration (B.S.) Overview

Program Status through Academic Year 2015-2016

Early in November 2014, Kinesiology faculty members considered, discussed, and approved a change in academic programs.  As of November 5, 2014, the Department of Kinesiology will no longer accept undergraduate applications for the Strength and Conditioning concentration within the Exercise Science major.

There will be no change for present Strength and Conditioning students who were admitted in a previous year.  They will continue on the same academic path, without disruption.

This faculty action was based on the department’s inability to maintain multiple quality academic programs with a small faculty in a difficult budget climate.  This decision reflects the fact that the Department of Kinesiology can no longer serve Strength and Conditioning students with the excellence expected of UConn academic programs.

The Department of Kinesiology will hold three open student meetings to allow you to ask questions about your future.  We also will discuss the CSCS certification path, outside the Department of Kinesiology, for sophomores who had planned to apply next semester.
